This is the Creek Bag Swing
We have had many church cookouts in this area, no less than 250 teenagers have been here to swing, eat, camp out and just have a good time.

To swing you grip the rope and lock you legs around the bag. Well at least you should. In the background you see the creek and the swinging bridge. The swing swings out over the creek.
This platform on the side of this tree is 20' from the ground. The bag is pulled up to the platform with a rope. Disconnect the white pull up rope, grip the swing rope, jump off the platform and quickly throw your legs around the bag.
You climb to the 20' platform up this tree. The boy in the white tee shirt is holding one of the steps. The white pull up rope is hanging to the left of the tree. If you do not disconnect the white pull up rope, you only have 1/2 the fun.

Both platforms are made out of welded steel electrical conduit. The 8' one is topped with 3/4" plywood and the 20' one is topped with a piece of 3/8" fiberglass sheet. To climb up to both of them you climb on 2' X 4's" that are nailed to the trees.

On the fIrst swing out when someone swings off the 20' platform they will be 30' above the creek bed. I have never seen anyone drop into the creek. Most of the time there is not enough water, only about 2' of water.

When it is flooded it would be very dangerous to get into the water, see the picture on the right. Since the creek makes so many turns it has many under currents and would pull you under.

This platform is only about 8' above the ground. It makes a good practice platform before you swing off the 20' platform. The creek almost circles the area where the swing is located.

CREEK FLOODED PICTURES

This is the creek when it is flooded. It was within 8" of the bottom of the bag swing. There is no way of telling where the bank of the creek is and where the creek bank drops off. We stay out of the water during these times and do not swing.

This is a shared area with the owners of the adjoining property. The swing and the tree that it hangs from are on the adjoining property. The best and highest swing platform is on my property. The swinging bridge also is shared, the property line goes across the middle of the bridge. This happened because at one time my daughter and her husband owned the adjoining property. We have a good relationship with the present owners and each share most of both properties together.
