A government owned and operated gasoline service station in our city
The Gasoline is "FREE" at the Pump!
ESTIMATED COST OF OPERATION:
A government study has shown that an average citizen who drives an automobile uses
97.2 gallons of gasoline per month.
All of the FREE government gasoline will be produced by a government owned and operated
refinery.
The cost to make the FREE government gasoline is estimated at $2.50 per gallon.
This study demonstrated that the total annual cost of operation of this gasoline station will
be $2,916,000.00 per 1000 automobile drivers.
WHO WILL ADMINISTER & OPERATE THIS GASOLINE STATION:
The county will be divided into districts and a board of trustees will be elected by
the registered voters of the district to oversee its operation. Of course, those who do not
own property also may vote in the election of trustees.
Those who do not own property may also be elected as a trustee.
All upper level administrators will be hired by the board of trustees from outside the
district to assure that qualified people oversee the operation.
Upper level administrators will draw salaries at twice the rate of anyone else in the district.
A large staff of employees will be hired giving good jobs to the district. Half of these
employees will fill out paper work for the government and see that everything is done
according to government specifications. Those not needed for paper work will pump FREE
government gasoline.
All of the upper level administrators and mid level employees will belong to state and
federal unions. Their union leaders will contribute to the campaigns and lobby
legislators to raise the salaries, benefits and overall working conditions of those who
operate the FREE government gasoline station.
At the recommendation of the administrators the trustees each year may raise the
private property tax rate on all the districts property owners by 8%.
From time to time the administrator may feel the need for additional funds. He/she
will convince the board of trustees to propose to the voters the sale of long term bonds.
Of course, those who are employed by the FREE government gasoline station and those that
do not pay property taxes will also vote in the bond election. Re-payment of bonds will
be made by private property owners.
WHO MAY USE THE FREE GASOLINE:
Citizens of the district can have as many automobiles as they like and use as much
FREE gasoline as they want. Non-citizens who may from time to time come to district may
have all the FREE gasoline they want.
There is generally some waiting at the pump but there is always one attendant at each pump
and sometimes a helper.
If a citizen of the district has a complaint they can take it to the attendant which may refer it to
the administrative level. At the administrative level they are usually told that their complaint
cannot be addressed because of some obscure law or regulation from the state or federal
government. Only the top administrators understand these laws.
The FREE government gasoline will perform well in some automobiles.
If it does not perform well in your automobile you may purchase additives, at your cost,
to raise the performance of the FREE government gasoline.
Better performing gasoline is available at privately owned and operated gasoline stations for
$1.25 per gallon. Of course, the privately manufactured gasoline is at your cost.
No consideration or discount is given on the better performing privately manufactured gasoline
even though property owners have already paid their property taxes for the FREE
government gasoline.
WHO WILL PAY FOR THE "WONDERFUL NEW IDEA":
Private property taxes will cover the overall cost of operation.
An assessment of all the private property of the district will be made by a government
agency. Everyone in the district who owns property will pay their share of taxes to
cover the overall cost of operating the FREE government gasoline station.
In a timely fashion the county appraiser will also re-appraise your property value upward
giving all taxing agencies a bonus.
Property owners only recourse is to try to elect new trustees who will NOT raise the tax rate.
Of course, those who are employed by the FREE government gasoline station and those that
do not own property or pay taxes will also vote in the election of trustees.
